With the approval of the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Engineering Research Center of Biomedicine and Animal Science (NERCBA) was established and built up on the base of KBI in October 2009.
The NERCBA is a national research institution that focuses on high-level scientific research and development in the field of laboratory animal models, stem cell, drug safety evaluation, etc. Its establishment is in accord with the requirements of developing and industrializing biotechnology and bio-pharmaceutical biotechnology in China and also to respond to the call of both domestic and international markets. Relying on the highly experienced research and management team of KBI, the Center has committed a number of national and provincial projects on development and standardization of NHP model of human diseases.
The primate breeding facilities as well as research laboratories of NERCBA feature excellent supporing measures in animal welfare which conform to AAALAC standards and follow necessary international industrial norms (SFDA, US FDA and OECD). Devoted to the research and development of primate models of nervous system and metabolic diseases, NERCBA and KBI provide clients world-wide with efficient and high quality service and techlinical safty evaluations. NERCBA will also continue to contribute our best towards the constant improvement of primate stem cell and transgenic animal technology.
